GOSHEN CEMETERY

Goshen Cemetery Board found the need to create additional marked interment spaces within their existing cemeteries for the internment of individuals in the Warren County and surrounding areas.  This particular cemetery provided a final resting place for individuals dating as far back as the early 1800’s, many of which being tied back to the Civil War!  In order to provide this additional space, The Goshen Cemetery Board found it necessary to first identify the current grave sites in relation to their overall property.  Doing so would require them to obtain an overall topographic survey of their property.  This proved to be a strategic decision for those involved as it would be necessary to contract with a professional and experienced firm who would also be respectful to the peace and tranquility families would expect around their loved ones.  Based on the history with clients such as the National Park Service and the City of Munfordville, it was deemed that DDS had the requisite expertise, knowledge and respect to perform the needed services at the Goshen Cemetery.

DDS field crews set to work completing a comprehensive topographic survey of the property at hand.  This cemetery, divided by a county roadway and Bethany Baptist Church, encompasses a total of approximately 10 acres.  As part of the topographic process, DDS crews took the time to locate and record corners of every monument across the cemetery which, in turn, helped to define the location of each burial site.  After the data was processed and reviewed, DDS was able to work with the coordinators of the project to identify locations of possible expansions, adding as many as 500 additional internment locations throughout the cemetery.

Cemeteries are all around us and must be worked into the ever changing landscapes of our surroundings.  By trusting in DDS, clients can not only locate and record the extents of their existing cemeteries but also plan for the future by setting aside additional land for future internments.  Contact us today to discuss the future of your cemetery!
