KENTUCKY READY MIX CONCRETE ASSOCIATION
RECOGNIZES DDS ENGINEERING
The
Kentucky Ready Mix Concrete Association recently awarded
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
an award of excellence in Concrete Design for the design and
use of ready mix concrete in a commercial project. The project for which the award was presented was the Adams Street parking lot for
Western Kentucky University. The design and construction utilized ready mix concrete surface, pervious concrete, and underground storm
water storage and treatment. This parking lot design had to meet three main goals: be environmentally friendly by meeting local storm
water quality and quantity regulations, provide an aesthetic improvement to north campus, and maximize parking/usage of the property.
The parking lot consisted of 497 parking spaces for WKU with approximately 124 parking spaces that would have otherwise had to be used
for storm water management. Stewart Lich, PE, was lead engineer and project manager for
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
and accepted the award
at the annual meeting of the Kentucky Ready Mix Concrete Association in Covington on February 19, 2010.
