Western Kentucky University is the third largest university in Kentucky. Its campus dates from the late 1800's, and today covers more than 400 acres in the center of Bowling Green, Kentucky. In the spring of 2002 plans were begun for the renovation and expansion of the E.A. Diddle Arena, built in the early 1960's. Diddle Arena is home to the Western Kentucky "Hilltoppers" which are national award winning swim and basketball teams. DDS ENGINEERING, PLLC performed research, field reconnaissance, boundary surveys, topographic surveys and office calculations to support the preparation of a topographic map at one-foot contours, showing numerous spot elevations which would be important in the re-design and construction of the new grounds and parking lots. We prepared the Civil Engineering construction documents for this project, including storm water runoff calculations, site grading and drainage plans, designed inlets and culverts, and relocated the existing gravity sanitary sewer service and fire protection water main.
