Dennis and Sharon Smith Endowed Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund

DDS ENGINEERING congratulates the three outstanding students chosen to receive this year's scholarships!  We are excited for these aspiring entrants into the Civil Engineering and related fields to unlock their abilities through diligent study at the excellent Western Kentucky University.

Here are the three scholarship recipients and a little information about them:

Cassidy Nicole Schrock is a senior at Bowling Green High School and is seeking admission into WKU as a Civil Engineering student.  When asked about what made her choose this field of study, she said, "I chose civil engineering for many reasons, but most of all because it allows me to use creativity, problem solving, attention to detail, and organization every day. ... I am particularly interested in transportation engineering, and I am excited by the potential for safety advancements within the field."

Lathan Scott Coleman is a Junior at Belmont Christian Academy and will study Construction Management at WKU.  When asked why he chose this field of study, Lathan said, "I have always loved how things work, and especially construction. I love seeing hard work come to life, and I thought civil engineering would be perfect for me!"

Lucas James Romine is a Senior at Barren County High School and will study Civil Engineering at WKU.  When asked why he chose the field of Civil Engineering, Lucas said, "I chose Civil Engineering because I have always been intrigued by the world of infrastructure around me and the design intuitive process is something that interests me." He also commented, "...I am very grateful to be awarded this scholarship as it has allowed me to focus more on my academics rather than the financial side of things."
